All of the hand painted metal seashell designs that you find at Tropical Fish Decor are hand cut from recycled steel 55 gallon drums. The drum has been cleaned, halved and beat into flat sheets by hand. The pattern is then drawn onto the metal to be skillfully cut with hammer and chisel into the desired shape. Then the true sculpting of the piece begins. Using a variety of chisels, the lines of definition are carefully applied in all of the right places, certain parts are pounded to round out the body of the shell design. When complete, a rust preventive paint is applied and then the painted artwork begins.
